BLOG NEWS
I’ve returned to work but I’ll still have to do a lot of medical checks, return was difficult and it stopped my creative flow of videos and curiosities about Linux and I’m starting to ask myself questions about whether it’s time to change. This post-reentry depression has prevented me from focusing on the blog during this time just as I was producing the most interesting video content, but there is any news…
New camera
I finally decided to get the Fujifilm XT-5 after the long Fujifilm XT-50 wait, in this period a 100 Euros cashback is available for new camera body purchase in authorized Fujifilm retailers (Italy).
XT-5 vs XT-30 II what I improved
- IBIS
- Larger, more durable battery
- Weather-sealed body
- Dual memory slots
- Better ergonomics
- Best viewfinder
- New 40 Mp Xtrans sensor
- ISO dial and more customizable buttons
XT-5 weight is about the same as the XT-30 II + official grip but holding it in your hand feels much better.
XT-5 vs new XT-50
I waited for the new Fujifilm XT-50 which I thought was my XT-30 II natural replacement but 1500 euros launch price, new Film Simulation dial and lack of weather-sealed body were not worth the extra 150 euros of XT5 + cashback (in my opinion). New XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS II is impressive but I have now adopted 1.4 prime lenses.
To get some money back I put up for sale my XT30-II which I wrote a lot about in this blog, complete with accessories (official FujiFILM grip, extra battery, charger, bag) and a prime lens that I don’t use. Plus I will put many up for sale other items I don’t use….I hate keeping items I don’t use.
If they don’t have any particular sentimental value I prefer to sell them, capitalize and create new space.
Fujifilm XT-5 & Linux
Corel AfterShot 3 is very dated and doesn’t seem to have support for the XT5, in the future I will evaluate what it means to use a different support for my RAW or whether to use something else.
