Firefox/Next/AI
It is already possible to integrate artificial intelligence within the Firefox browser.
Firefox Nightly is testing new features to make browsing more productive. These are optional and respect your privacy available for Linux, Windows and macOS.
What’s Coming:
- Chatbot in the Sidebar: You can add a chatbot to quickly access while browsing.
- Text Selection Features:
- Summarization: Quickly understand the main points of an article.
- Simplification: Make complex text easier to read.
- Knowledge Testing: Use a chatbot to quiz yourself on what you’ve read.
These features are designed to help you multitask and find information more efficiently. They are currently available only for Nightly users and can be turned off if you prefer not to use them.
How to Use AI Chatbots in Firefox Nightly
To try out AI chatbots in Firefox Nightly:
- Turn On the AI Chatbot Feature:
- Go to Settings > Nightly Experiments.
- Turn on the AI Chatbot Integration experiment.
- Choose Your Chatbot:
- Select from these options:
- ChatGPT
- Google Gemini
- HuggingChat
- Le Chat Mistral
- Select from these options:
- Use the Chatbot While Browsing:
- Select any text on a webpage.
- Right-click and choose “Ask chatbot.”
- The selected text, page title, and your question will be sent to the chatbot.
- Keep the Chatbot Sidebar:
- Right-click the toolbar and click “Customize toolbar.”
- Drag the sidebar icon to your toolbar for easy access.

Improving the AI Services
- Feedback: Share your suggestions and custom prompts in the Connect post.
- Custom Prompts: Advanced users can set up custom prompts and chatbots.
- Local Chatbot Options: We aim to offer private, local chatbot alternatives.
This feature is still being improved, and your feedback will help make it better.
