I haven’t been able to focus on a particular goal this week, a lot of bad luck and a lot of problems so that for the first time I’m starting to hate GNOME and thinking about testing KDE or other..
My old DELL P2415Q 4K monitor keeps going to sleep at the slightest movement and no longer gives any signal unless I restart my PC. After buying a new Display Port 1.4 cable the problem came back and I found out that it depends on the power connector, I tried two cables but just move the attachment slightly and it turns off. At the moment I keep it wrapped to the screen. I’m thinking of having it seen by a technician (I even thought about opening it) or getting it new but I don’t see any interesting offers at the moment on 4K ones.
New WordPress site
I spent a whole week creating a new lawyer site for my sister, it was nice to test myself with the creation of a new site from scratch, I still used tophost, a good & very cheap service, with 10 euros including taxes I did everything. Choosing the WordPress theme was very difficult.
In the end, after days of testing, I chose Inspiro Blocks from WP-ZOOM, really simple and configurable, so I was able to test WordPress block theme editing (I still remember when I entered the code by hand and swore I would always do this and never use those stupid blocks).
I don’t publish the link for privacy but most of the work has been done…
WordPress crashed again due to an Ad-Inserter update, once removed with filezilla I agreed that I no longer have the pro version and I’m waiting for them to send it back to me (there is no section on their site to log in and redownload it). edit: there is a dedicated page appending personal key to the URL
Every 15-20 minutes I get a damn Google login windows popoup to synchronize Evolution & Calendar with GNOME accounts but every time I enter the password everything crashes (I’m starting to hate GNOME) this problem seems to be related to the Nvidia drivers and has been going on for weeks:
I have to use Firefox in German due to a problem with Italian or English locale in my AUR bin version (I learned that Einfugen means paste and many other interesting things).
Arch Linux didn’t update many AUR packages for me and I found that I had to reinstall packages I already had, I don’t know why some mess must have happened and gcc and more were installed but not working, once I fixed everything and removed some useless stuff everything is back to normal.
This year I will travel to Asia again and I’m starting a very intense phase of organization that is keeping me busy these days, for now I won’t reveal any details for now..
To relax while writing I chose a new song..
