Hardware/Pixel 8
After having praised my Vivo X70 Pro+ and its new update I also decided to go back to the origin with Pixel, the phone I have always used over the years, returning to the small basic 128GB version.
I don’t archive videos and I’m always careful about what I save with frequent backups and cleaning, 128GB is more than enough for me.
Smartphone is no longer my main device for photos since I switched to Fujifilm interchangeable lenses. I therefore chose a compact device that would allow me, especially in the unfortunately increasingly hot summer months, to easily put it in the pocket of my shorts without carrying around half a kilo of Vivo dangling around.
Pixel 8 best Wireless Charger in 2024
I chose my first wireless charger because I couldn’t stand all the unplugging and plugging away of USB cables anymore and I relied on INIU with whom I had found myself very well for my last Powerbank that I had brought with me last year to Bangkok. This is the INIU WI-211 model form me the best Pixel 8 charger of 2024.
It’s really well made and solid, it seems to have been created for the Pixel 8. I connected it to a USB C charger and it was necessary to replace the supplied cable with one that has USB in both input and output.
Pixel 8 best case in 2024
As for the Pixel 8 case, I chose the pixel8cov2blog because it offers more protection and doesn’t sacrifice style. For me Caseology Nano Pop is the best Pixel 8 case of 2024.
I initially bought a low-cost green one but I was refunded because it was lost by the courier.
I wanted to choose the original Google one, beautiful but in my opinion leaves the optics area unprotected.
I also applied a protective glass and unfortunately this case is very tight and caused bubbles to form on the sides which I’m struggling to make them disappear but it’s difficult.
Google Pixel 8 vs Vivo X70 pro+
The Vivo undoubtedly had a higher resolution, with its superb AMOLED screen, color rendering was significantly better but after a few days I started to get familiar to new size. I increased font a little and enlarged the keyboard.
Unlike my past Pixels where I used Nova Launcher Prime, for the first time I want to enjoy the full Android Stock experience with Pixel Launcher. Apart from the inability to remove the icon text I’m fine with it.
I appreciate system fluidity and responsiveness. Device heats up a lot, I have read about the problem, for now I have tried to limit it by enabling 4G only and disabling adaptive connectivity, as I found in some discussions around the web.
After almost two and a half years, my Google location history is back active, OK Google works again and I am back to integrating with my home devices as best as possible.
Vivo with Origin OS is heavily affected by a lot of Chinese applications and you perceive so distant and unnatural. I had impression that the Google World was installed in Vivo like an intruder and did not integrate very well with the Chinese system.
My Vivo Tws2 anc earbuds, now really specials for me, have been recognised, even though I don’t have the Qualcomm chip spatial audio and the difference can be felt..
