Flatpak and Appimage has made this type of installation immediate and within everyone’s reach.

Flatpak version run in parallel with stable version and will be totally independent from it.

GIMP 3.00RC1 Release candidate 1 may be the last development version before release candidates, since we entered GUI feature freeze. This release contains huge core logic updates on several areas so we are really welcoming feedbacks and reports to reach stability state sooner. Here are some of the more visible improvements:
