Video Editor/LosslessCut
Last Monday I had recorded a video to test the built-in gimbal of my smartphone but it came in reverse. The video turned out to be 1.1GB (I didn’t have time to do it again).
If I rotated the video with Kdenlive H.265 while maintaining a minimum of quality, I was only able to obtain a minimum size of 4.4 GB after 20 minutes of rendering.
I went Google for a solution and found LosslessCut that seems to be right for me. Available in this versions including AppImage.
Fix display compositor error
I confess that I was very doubtful, and the difficulty of installing on Arch Linux/AppImage with this error made me be even more…
CLI arguments { _: [] }
Current version 3.44.0
Newest version 3.44.0
[6936:0330/184903.769517:FATAL:gpu_data_manager_impl_private.cc(1034)] The display compositor is frequently crashing. Goodbye.
I found out I wasn’t the only one and solved it with:
losslesscut --no-sandbox
Where is the magic trick?
I dragged the video into the LosslessCut window, clicked on the bottom icon to rotate it and then on export. A same size rotated video was instantly generated.
Don’t ask me where is the magic trick, I don’t want to get into the maze of video codecs and extrapolations tags but for me it was pure magic…
