Hardware/Keyboard
In more than 20 years I have changed very few keyboards and have always used powerful and ergonomic Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard.
I decided to say goodbye to Microsoft because I was looking for a backlit keyboard for the night (lately, even with the LED lamp I was struggling). I had a great feeling with the ergonomic old keyboard that was a real tank, you could treat it badly, snack on it and hit it was really comfortable.
I couldn’t find a backlit equivalent at an affordable price and wanted to avoid tacky RGB gamer keyboards. After evaluating some Perixx I found a super offer for the Logitech MX Keys for only 69 Euros on the Amazon store.
The keyboard is truly professional. I have never owned Wireless keyboards (I preferred the classic USB) but I couldn’t miss this opportunity. In metal, heavy but rather small in size, perfect backlighting. The feel of the keys reminds me of those on my Dell 7548. Very professional. I also got the expensive Palm Rest MX memory foam mat.
For me this is the best Linux keyboard at the moment for Ubuntu/Debian Mint Arch& others Linux distributions.
Now I always wash my hands before starting every PC work session and food ban on it, all very cool compared to before. The packaging is really professional, you immediately get the impression of a superior quality product. In terms of usability, Microsoft’s crude keyboard was unbeatable and I have to get used to it. I finally have no problem with night typing.
Logitech MX Keys & Linux compatibility
This will be a very short paragraph. I connected the USB mini key to PC and the keyboard immediately worked on my Arch Linux. From the instructions it should also work on Bluetooth.
A really nice thing is that if I press the start button I have the automatic switch between GNOME windows in addition to the function keys with a lot of operations dedicated to desktop/app switching.
At the moment there is a cat-alarm so I have to think about a keyboard pad cover, but I really recommend it to everyone if you find a good offer. remember that like any top-class product and must be treated with care, it is really beautiful and exciting to see and use. After using the mighty Comfort Curve it takes a little getting used to the more compact size and flat shape but I’m sure it will be a matter of getting used to.
