Hardware/Sony Vaio
Yesterday there were some problems with my Vaio VPCZ12X9E on which I had installed Mint XFCE.
After trying to install Nvidia GT 216M proprietary drivers I ended up in a bottleneck, X would not boot and returning to Nouveau resulted in the wrong video resolution.
After spending two evenings in the with my old friend apt (how much I love Arch Linux!) between settings, wiki and unresolved dependencies and trying in vain to ask for help on two forums I was convinced that there was some problem due to the dual Intel/Nvidia hybrid-graphics and I decided to upgrade to Mint Cinnamon (I have wanted to try the primary branch for a long time).
Mint Cinnamon 20.3 (Una) Vaio installation
2.3 GB Torrent download was very fast and for the ISO I used as always the excellent balenaEtcher.
Compared to Mint XFCE the interface is more elegant but takes a few more seconds to boot. Also thanks to my previous ram upgrade and Vaio SSD there are no particular problems of use.
Screen resolution now is perfect as it is and I have no proprietary drivers installed. Notebook is not intended for me and will only be used for Mail/Internet.
