Security/Bitdefender
For some time now I like to entrust my passwords to external tools that save them safely and propose them to visited sites via browser plugin.
I had used LastPass in the past and then switched to KeePassXC. I was happy with KeePass, self database management as a single file inspired me more security than saving everything to an external cloud… but is time to change again.
Why have I stopped using KeePassXC on Android/Linux
Lately I had problems managing the Firefox plugin, it had to be reloaded together with the web page to make access data appear in browser forms.
I found it a bit boring keeping GNOME dock busy with KeePassXC icon, opening it at every access to unlock database and having to keep window always active. I have never tried GNOME Keyring integration as I read about too many problems.
Bitdefender on Linux
After analyzing various alternatives, I decided to switch to Bitdefender with
Bitdefender Mobile Security for Android + Bitdefender Password Manager
- Bitdefender Password Manager is a really good password management tool
- Integrates seamlessly with Firefox on Linux via a dedicated plugin
- Great random password generator built into Firefox
- It asks for master password only once when starting the browser without external tools
- Plugin window takes up little space and is very well done and allows you to manage weak or duplicate passwords.
- It is possible to analyze several accounts to find out if they have been subject to fraud
- Annual subscription cost is very affordable compared to the competitors
- It has a credit cards manager and private notes saved and encrypted on the cloud
- There is a site blocker
Bitdefender for Android
Bitdefender for Android includes a great scanning tool Antivirus for Malaware, Ransomware, PUA,(Potentially Unwanted Applications) Adware, Hidden Apps, Banker and CoinMiner ranked high for effectiveness in numerous tests. Partly based on the cloud, scanning and resource usage requires fewer resources than other similar products.
There is an integrated Web Protection that can be activated for the most popular Android browsers and an anti-fraud protection that acts on texts, links and notifications, as well as blocking unwanted apps, anti-theft and VPN.
A 200MB/day VPN is included with Mobile Security (you have to pay for Premium VPN unlimited data & servers).
Bitdefender includes a remote location tool, sensitive data wipe, security PIN, remote lock, take photo for unsuccessful unlock, alarm and remote commands via https://central.bitdefender.com
I removed Cerberus as it was giving me too many problems with my Vivo smartphone (impossible to locate phone and detected as a virus).
Cerberus it was definitely more complete and full of options (offline alarms via SMS, sim extraction detection and much more) but it went too deep into the system to be excluded from the Google Play Store.
GNOME WEB (Epiphany) 43.rc Bitdefender addon test
I finally tried installing Bitdefender Password Manager Firefox addon ([email protected]) in the latest Flatpak version of GNOME Web which supports Web Extensions, but like the other two I had tried (User-Agent Switcher and KeePassXC ) it does not work. I would like in the future to approach this browser for daily use and support for this addon would be essential… I hope that in the future it will be possible.
This is not a sponsored article and I have not received any compensation from Bitdefender.

I think you should consider FLOS options like Bitwarden or Vaulwarden.
